Modern Witch Tarot Deck

The archetypes didn't change. The world around them did. Lisa Sterle caught up.

The Modern Witch Tarot Deck is acclaimed artist Lisa Sterle's reimagining of the classic 78-card Rider-Waite-Smith tarot for the twenty-first century — a deck where the ancient symbols remain fully intact, but the figures who carry them look like the world we actually live in. Diverse bodies. Contemporary fashion. The Magician raising her wand in a red kimono jacket under cascading wisteria. The Empress in her power. The Chariot moving forward. Every archetype, fully alive in the present moment.

Sterle's illustration style has made this one of the most beloved modern tarot decks in print: bold flat color, graphic linework, lush botanical detail, and a visual energy that feels both rooted in tradition and unmistakably of now. The cards are rich with the full symbolic vocabulary of RWS tarot — pentacles, swords, wands, cups, the complete Major and Minor Arcana — reimagined with the diversity, excitement, and creative power of contemporary witchcraft culture.

The included 56-page guidebook provides card meanings and reading guidance, making this a strong choice for beginners while offering enough depth to reward experienced readers who want a fresh visual language for a practice they already know.
