Geological Details

Rainbow Moonstone is a variety of labradorite (plagioclase feldspar) with a Mohs hardness of 6-6.5. Its signature rainbow shimmer, called adularescence, is caused by light scattering between microscopic layers within the stone. Each piece displays unique rainbow flashes ranging from blue and purple to gold and pink.
