This Might Hurt Tarot Deck

Sometimes the truth hurts. Sometimes growth hurts. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is look clearly at what is.

This Might Hurt Tarot Deck is Isabella Rotman's deeply personal reimagining of the classic 78-card tarot — a deck that is complicated, rich, queer, and joyfully diverse, built for the modern reader who is doing the real work of knowing themselves. Every card honors the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith imagery while remixing it for a world that actually looks like the people reading it. The result is a deck that feels both immediately familiar and completely alive.

Rotman's illustration style is warm, hand-drawn, and emotionally resonant — visible linework, flat expressive color, figures of different bodies, skin tones, and identities inhabiting classic archetypes with genuine tenderness and humor. This is tarot that embraces the full spectrum of what it means to be human: the beautiful parts, the hard parts, and the parts that are both at once.

Accessible enough for beginners, layered enough for experienced readers, and with enough personality to earn a permanent place in any collection — rebellious witch or otherwise.
